Excellent thanks for the reassurance. The brickwerks ones do appeal more to the wallet, and the fact I dont have to disturb the heads mean less things to break or with the age of these engines fall apart!!
Afternoon, Looking for some advice and guidance. Can you fit adjustable push rod tubes to a 1.9dg water cooled engine. I don't fancy having to remove the heads in order to do so. If it is possible where is the best place to get them? I see VW Heritage do them at a very respectable £35.50 each https:...
Thanks itchyfeet. I have ordered the 1D ones to get me out of a hole, my concern was more whether it would catch on anything in the engine, but take on board the oil drain issue.
Will get the pic up asap regards the exhaust brackets.
Thanks guys, Have purchased the kit, just trying to get hold of the 0.8D inserts. Are the 1.0D inserts still too big? Sorry guys, yes its a 1.9 DG WBX engine. On a slightly different note, on the exhaust near the silencer there are two exhaust brackets, not the usual u shape, circular ones. Does any...
Morning forum folk, Small query, we have finally managed to find an engine for our beloved Tillie Anne thanks to Jason at Volksworld in Redruth. In the process of preparing it to go back in the van we removed the sump plug to drain the old oil ready for some fresh stuff. But guess what when trying t...
Looks like a new engine, but cannot afford £1500 - £2000+ for a recond petrol. Possibility of getting a second hand diesel engine installed (Think its the 1.6 unit)for £1000. To be honest I'm not sure what to do. Whats the mpg like on the diesel engine? is it any better than the 1.9 DG Petrol? Thoug...
Driving to work this morning in our lovely Tillie Anne the van when all of a sudden she started to struggle power wise. Looking about in the usual whats wrong and confused manner because I know a 30 year old van should run without fault!!! to notice 2 plumes of white smoke exiting the side vents fol...
New gear linkage parts installed and van back to normal with the smoothest gear change I've known. Amazing how much replacing a few little parts can change the feel of something totally. Now I can select 1st and 2nd when I want not when the van wants!!! Thanks guys for all of your help and support. ...
Ordered the Rear linkage kit, but also ordered the onion repair kit thingy for the gear stick aswell as its got more flop in it than Hew Heffner's gentleman bits!! Hopefully will be here for the weekend!! Also stocking up on some more cable ties to add to the increasing spares box I am keeping in th...
Right then, Been under the van tonight, checked both the gearbox end and gear stick end of the linkage. It does appear to be the linkage at the rear. The ball keeps coming out of the socket and jams when selecting 2nd and 4th. Could something have fallen off to allow this to happen or has the ball j...
Thanks guys, going to check tomorrow night when i have some spare time to get underneath. Really appreciate all the help and support. Tillie Anne the van is part of the family now, we couldn't get rid even if we wanted to. Will update you once I have the diagnosis.
Advice required please, Threw a tantrum and kicked the van in a very Basil Fawlty type manner yesterday. After several weeks of grief, and maintenance, and constant love and attention,( oh and shed loads of money) the van has been running like a dream and I have had a very happy wife. That was until...
