Fitting rear wash wipe

Having waited a long time to do this I eventually had everything that I needed. There are 3 wires that come from the fuse box, green and white for the washer motor, grey and black and green and black for the wiper motor. I changed over the steering column stalks to one with a rear wash wipe function...

Re: Hot start 'no crank' 1.9 dg

I have had the same problem. Checked everything. Confusing because it only happens sometimes and I thought it was related to the aftermarket immobiliser. However having gone over the battery terminals again the new positive clip-on red plastic gizmo type was not clicking home. Once I had sorted that...

Re: Rattles from dashboard

Removed the plastic panel on the steering column. The plastic mount for the Terry clip that goes onto the steering column was broken. Repaired with superglue and made a more robust mount for the Terry clip. Once reassembled rattling about 80% better. Will have a go at the glove box next!.philmcC

Rattles from dashboard

What's the best way of stopping rattles from glovebox, front plastic panel, and dashboard?. The the surface of the roads around where I live has not been repaired for years and the rattling as I go over potholes is driving me bonkers.philmcC

1.9 DG engine

I have the 1.9 DG engine in my autohomes komet. It's a VEGE unit. I read the forum regularly and see all sorts of less than enthusiastic messages about it. I have to say that mine goes beautifully cruising between 55 and 60 mph gives 27 mpg. A major improvement to the running was taking Aidan's advi...

Re: wiring for rear wash wipe

Thanks for that, appreciated. It had a heated rear screen and the wire for that is at the top left-hand side of the aperture. I'm going to be brave and remove the panel that covers the C pillar. It's part of the furniture so a bit of a pain to remove. I'll have a go at the weekend. philmcC

wiring for rear wash wipe

I have a autohomes Komet 1.9 DG syncro. It wasn't fitted with the rear wash wipe originally. Because I had to change the tailgate the new one came with a rear wash wipe mechanism. Did VW fit the wiring back to the C pillar on all Caravelle's only connecting it up to the rear wash wipe if that was or...

I have the porta potti345 which works okay. I bought an IKEA wooden locker second-hand which it fits in perfectly and I use the locker as a seat behind the passenger seat. PmcC

Re: daunted newbie - next move? 1.9 1983 petrol waterboxer

Yes it was a bit of a hit financially. However it was over 2 years so that spread it out a bit. Getting in touch with real experts, Aidan Talbot transmission and excellent advice, Gary Wilkie bodywork highly technical welding and sending photos of progress and Steve Theobald a great resource of know...

Re: daunted newbie - next move? 1.9 1983 petrol waterboxer

You are not alone!. I bought my 1986 autohomes Komet syncro on eBay as an impulse buy. I picked it up in Inverness with an MOT for one year. I got as far as Pitlochry travelling through a blizzard when it sort of disintegrated. Recovered to a garage in Blair Athol took a month to get it roadworthy e...

Dimensions Autohomes Komet

I am missing the drawer unit that fits over the engine trapdoor at the back. I've seen photos of it, but as my van is away in another part of the country having some plastic surgery I can't measure it up. Very grateful if someone with a unit could measure up outside dimensions and post. Thanks Phil
