Re: Help request: removal of dash lower centre panel
If you remove the L shaped cold starting aid cover, then you may press the lower side of the metal dash inside enough to slide the center panel out. If it not works than you have to remove the whole dash panel. Thanks ZsZ, it worked. :ok Now it's off I can see it's more of a pull and slide out, as ...

Re: window rubbers

Help request: removal of dash lower centre panel
Hi All, Trying to get the front carpets out of our Westie, which are one piece (across the middle). It has the (optional?) heater tunnel taking heat to the rear (which is on top of the carpet).... have removed screws holding it in place but the heater centre panel that it 'hooks' under is preventing...

Re: Started to machine polish the old girl
Many Thanks John - the pictures do make it look a lot better than she is as you can't really see the blemishes where work is required, but that said she certainly is much more presentable. With regards to the double glazed windows, i machine polished these as well using a very fine cut polish. As a...

Re: Started to machine polish the old girl
Your van does look amazing 300 - can I ask what you clean your double glazed windows with? We've just picked up a Westy and the windows are quite dull (years of fine scratches I guess...), was wondering if there's something that can polish/flat/cut back to a shiny view! Thanks in advance for any adv...

Oil join in..... Interesting info on this subject here: http://www.ratwell.com/technical/OilSelection.html#synthetics" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - interesting not least 'cos of the properties being lost in modern Synthetics due to prolonging the life of catalysers and r...

Re: Opinions on a few 'features' please
Isn't the non starting when v. hot sometimes linked to the coil breaking down on those old petrol engines? Hi, I fitted a new coil about 600 miles ago at the same time that I switched back to the electronic ignition (previous owner retrofitted a 009 dizzy). No reason for doing it then other than I ...

Re: Ignition Coil - Green or grey Label?
Hi All, I have the same problem as Alex (OP) in that I have a coil without a grey or green sticker, and no OE part number. I was about to order one from Brickwerks - then discovered from the Haynes Manual there's a difference between the grey and green stickered coil (if it's correct!) as follows: S...

Re: Engine/gbox bulkhead heat n sound deadening.
Just a thought Waltraud...... I took mine out last week when fitting rear seat belts, it was held in place with a (rusty!) wire frame thingy. Seems to me it's a potential rust trap, and the shiny panel revealed underneath the insulation was spoilt by the beginning of rust where the panel meets the c...
