Re: tricklec harging your battery while laid up
I was thinking about replacing the charger in my LT Florida with a Sterling, as the factory-fitted one makes a loud buzzing noise when powered up. I'm also not sure if it's up to scratch to charge the 2 80Ah leisure batteries I've put in, and it doesn't charge the starter battery. Are you sure it d...

Re: westy roof storage
Awesome - thanks. Hadn't thought of taking all the headliner out. I knew I needed to undo the back of the headliner to get at the bolts for the back of the rack, but hadn't thought of undoing the others from underneath... Oh well, looks like the headliner will have to come out!

Re: westy roof storage
I agree the luggage rack is really useful option. Brick aerodynamics and all that, but here's some info I found while geeking about looking at vans and mods. Not sure if it's accurate - maybe it explains why it became an option, as seems standard on the earlier Westfalias. Here is a late model (1991...

Re: tricklec harging your battery while laid up
Sorry - I didn't see your replies until now. Thanks very much for the info - really useful. Sounds like Sterling is the bomb! I'll put Sterling stuff on the list of things to save up for...
Thanks again

Hey there. I haven't tried one myself, but see from this thread on brick yard http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/westy-owners-useful-parts-and-info-list_topic25232.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Gas tank BBQ quick-connectors and other gas bits http://www.bes.co.uk"...

Re: Looking for good sites in the New Forest.
I would also recommend Forest Holidays Holmsley. It's in a nice spot, quiet, and there's a lot of space.
Sandy Balls has always been booked up when I've called, so might be an idea to book it well in advance if you want to go there.

I read somewhere on the web (but cant find a link now...) that the roof tray increased wind resistance quite a bit (10%!). Apparently that is why Westfalia did away with it in the later campers and replaced it with a spoiler. It's useful space though. I think my roof tray has lots of leaves under it...

Thanks!
Just wanted to say thanks very much to maximus and West.Club.Joker.
I had looked at gunzl, but couldn't see anything that looked right in the T3 section. Now I know it's a standard part, no problem!

Where to get a replacement filler cap?
I finally got myself a van - an 86 Westfalia Club Joker, which I bought in Hamburg. I've only had it for a couple of months and done about 3500 miles, including 3 weeks going up from Holland to Norway. Today, I stupidly managed to lose the drinking water filler cap. It's a lockable one, a black thin...
