White smoke
A few weeks back, I replaced a leaky manifold gasket and realised the failure was likely the thermostat housing, that sits right above it, dripping coolant. I replaced the housing The van had been left a few days with the manifold open and the leaky housing above it - until I could finish the job. O...

Re: Coolant leak from Thermostat housing
Update I bought a new housing and seal kit. The allen bolts were unmovable and corroded enough to be pretty much rounded off. I removed all the sensors and wiring and then chiselled the old housing away enough to get some heat on the engine block and some grips on the bolt shafts and they came out. ...

Re: Coolant leak from Thermostat housing
scrap that .. looks like one of these does the job: http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/t3-parts/t3-engine/t3-petrol/t3-petrol-cooling-system/thermostat-housing-fitting-kit-2wd.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Is it worth a new housing ? How bad do they get ? Anything ...

Coolant leak from Thermostat housing
T25 1.9DG Looks like I have a coolant leak just over the rear left exhaust manifold, i.e. coming from somewhere within that thermostat housing assembly. I don't think it's the pipes but it's tough to tell. I can see there is an O ring on the housing but is there a gasket between the housing and the ...

Re: Normal timing behaviour on a T25
Ok.
Thanks.
- Pull off vaccum pipe
- Spin engine up to 4k revs
- Check I get about 30 degrees advance.
Thanks.

Re: Normal timing behaviour on a T25
Ok. Well.I just read on another forum that I can time to 8 degrees BTDC with the vaccum on, so that's what I'll do and then check what the advance runs to when revving. I know it's advancing It's just the vacc advance has me confused and why I am timing without it and why it immediately advances the...

Re: Normal timing behaviour on a T25
1.9DG
I got the numbers wrong. Might between 30 and 40 degrees at speed, with everything connected.
I reckon the vacc pipe (when idle) adds about 15/20 degrees (my strobe has a twiddly knob to do this) and the dizzy seems to advance by itself around the same.

Normal timing behaviour on a T25
Changed my alternator belt (pretty shagged) and oil. Flushed with success, I'd thought I'd check the timing Pulling the vaccum advance pipe off the dizzy, as instructed, stalls the engine. I increase the tickover until it doesn't. I need to adjust the dizzy a bit until my strobe gets it on the singl...

Re: Manual gearbox oil
the van was pretty level front to back. I had it jacked up a little on the side to crawl under but dropped it down to see whether the filler stopped leaking. I'll leave it. I'm away for a week (with the van - but not going far) and I'll come back and recheck it. Seems a bit of confusion over the cap...

Manual gearbox oil
Having read the wiki: https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Gearbox_Clutch_CVs_CV_joints_drain_plug" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and looked in the manual then it was time to renew the gbox oil. Mainly as I have never looked at it in 5 years (my time with the van). Using the m10 and...

Re: Radiator Fan Wiring
no matter.
The housing is a shade too big to fit.. wihtout serious cutting...I think it's off a 1.6D and mine is a 1.9petrol. Same year.
Looks like all T25's are not created equal ..

Radiator Fan Wiring
T25. Radiator well crispy, fan housing slumped and fan hitting it. All out and drained with no drama New radiator purchased Second hand housing and fan. New housing has different and bigger fan (good) but only two terminals on the fan. Old fan has three wires and a connector .... ? I can cut and res...
