So I'm guessing this has baffled everyone else! I'll take the wheel off tomorrow and see what awaits...

Grease leak on rear wheel
Hi everyone, I haven't posted on here in a while (that must be a good sign?) but I wanted to ask your opinions on this before I take it to a mechanic: I took the van out on a really rainy evening recently - huge deep puddles of water on the road, and the next day I noticed grease had leaked out onto...

Re: Starter removal 1.6 diesel
Thanks! Got the starter out after unbolting the clutch slave cylinder and coaxing it back... Starter's back in my possession now after having had a new solenoid fitted, cheers

Re: Starter removal 1.6 diesel
Do I have to undo the bolt down near the gearbox to get it to wiggle? It wasn't showing any signs of budging but maybe I needed to use more force!

Starter removal 1.6 diesel
Happy New Year! I set about to remove the starter motor on my van, and found this item (to the left of the starter in the pic) - which is making it impossible to remove the starter! Is there any way to easily get the starter out from around it? What is it? http://i67.tinypic.com/4trl8m.jpg Thanks in...

Excellent! I'm going to make an effort to go also...
Despite the name they seem to be very welcoming of engines with waterjackets, including diesels! (My T3 is also diesel)

Re: Biggest total diameter on a T3. 2WD?
This is something I've been thinking about lately - I would like to have taller diameter tyres on my bus, but I think with the puny 1.6d engine and westy conversion I haven't got enough engine power. I have smaller tyres on now (205/60/16 iirc - whatever came on the merc alloys), and the acceleratio...

Re: Leisure battery
I'm not sure what the policy is wrt editing the wiki, but I think we should put in a warning about Elecsol batteries:

I believe they've filed for bankruptcy now so you shouldn't be able to buy one anymore...

Re: 86 RHD Panel van Speedo Cable problem
I've read somewhere that the original speedo cable was 2-piece and the replacement part is 1-piece, so maybe you don't need that bit, and it's to stop the suspension travel interfering with the speed reading?

Re: Correct battery for T3 1.9N/A D 1Y?
You could always boost the ignition feed to the starter by using a relay to switch it - take a positive feed straight from the battery and switch it at the starter. I'm led to believe it's a common mod, it's been done to my 1.6d and it starts really well.

Re: Westy luggage rack roof cramps
Yeah, they look like pop-rivets. I picked up a pop-riveting tool in a bargain store near here for these kinds of jobs, but I'm not sure if the rivets would be long enough for fitting those...
