Re: SEAT 1.9 Nat Aspirated head onto 1.9 AAZ?
Grumpy M > Thanks, an engine change may be the answer then. I'll check the engine code on Monday. Andy > When you say the top ring has may have 'clamped down', what do you mean? The crank rotates smoothly when I put it in gear and push the van very gently. Thanks gentlemen, it's possible you've made...

SEAT 1.9 Nat Aspirated head onto 1.9 AAZ?
I have an unlucky AAZ 1.9TD and the woodruff key on the cambelt crank pulley sheered and it has broken half of the hydraulic tappets and bent a valve or possibly 2 - still taking it apart! I have access to a SEAT 1.9 naturally aspirated van with what looks like an identical head on it. I don't know ...

Tailgate stand-off aka: ventilator
Summer is coming and soon we'll be able to wake up in our own personal sauna, so I'm on the hunt for the plans for those wonderful stand off brackets that used to be on the old site. They were a simple twisted plate with shaped holes each end to key to the latch and latch plate. I've searched the ol...

When you fitted it last, did the two ends line up perfectly before you tightened the nuts, or did you have to push/pull it into place a little before tightening? It is possible to induce some stress in the fuel line at this point due to this or as you nip the nuts at the back up. Don't feel you have...

I realise that AAZ internals in the JX pump will be okay, I'm having problems timing the pump. Does anyone know if the AAZ and the JX pump toothed wheel have differently positioned keyways for the woodruff key? (now there's an anoraks question!!) As I have the JX wheel fitted currently?! I'll check ...

1.9 Diesel - AAZ with modified JX pump - Pump timing issues
Okay, continuing on from a previous thread https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39948 I now have a JX (Bosch VE) pump with the AAZ camplate and necessary bits fitted. This was all built by a professional and tested on a rig to an AAZ program, so should be spot on. I have installed and timed ...

Does your van still have all the acoustic padding on the underside of the engine bulkead (the slopey bit) and is it held in place. If so, make sure your seal on the engine lid is all good. The three things I used to quieten my 1.9TD down was: 1. Fit fibre glass into the rear tailgate - this makes a ...

The two connections on your starter motor are: 1. Big pole with thick wire leading to batery. This is the bit that provides the juice, check that the connection is as clean as it can be and give the wire a bit of a wriggle at both ends to ensure that the crimped ends are secure. I recently opened th...
