Replacing Buzzing Black Box

My BBB has died at the ripe old age of 33. I have a '84 Club Joker which has crank and leisure battery. I have 240v confirmed as going into the BBB, but nothing coming out. I have checked the internal fuse and it is fine. So my questions are: 1. Is there anyone who repairs them? And assuming the ans...

Re: hesitation / loss of power

Morning all. I have been using the van faultlessly of late, but last night the inevitable happened. Pulled out of a junction, and thought the van felt like it had a slight lack of power. Not too much, and so little I questioned myself a bit, but I certainly thought I had to give it a bit `more` to ...

Fuel Tank problem solved

Morning I thought I would share a problem and solution I have been having in case it helps anybody else. Since I have owned my current van I have had a couple of fuel related problems. 1. On empty, I can only ever seem to get 40l in to get it to full. Once full there was initially a leak some from t...

Re: Oil Pressure Switch Dilemma

I tested the high pressure switch which all seems to be working as it should (except it is the only switch connected to the dash) The low pressure switch gave me nothing and so I ordered the recommended replacement part. Once it arrives I will fit it and connect the wire to this switch. Assuming thi...

Re: Oil Pressure Switch Dilemma

Itchyfeet I knew about the switch types but did not know that the location did not matter. Light always comes on before I start then goes out once started. This is with the blue/black wire connected to the switch to the front of the engine. If I try to connect the wire to the switch by the pushrods ...

Oil Pressure Switch Dilemma

OK, this one will bound to confuse you... I have an '84 water cooled, 1.9l T25 Westie. It runs a dream except every now and then the oil pressure warning light comes on when idling. It can go weeks without happening and then do it for days in a row. Then stop again for weeks. It never happens on col...

Re: Strange but True

Ahh, good point. I automatically assumed it could be linked to the loss of power. Ok, on the coolant front, he did lose a bit of coolant recently but I have since tightened the pipes and have not lost any more fluid. The coolant bottle in on the minimum level as I have not had a chance to top it up....

Strange but True

I have recently updated vans. I now have a 1984, 1.9l, petrol, watercooled Westie (left hooker) The engine was recently removed and refitted due to failed crank seal (in case it is relevant). The (brand new) engine was fitted by VW about 4 years ago and has only done 3000 miles. Today I noticed a tr...

Re: Clutch crazy

Here is a question. What if the gear linkage boot at the engine end was corroded to almost nothing so that it breaks apart in your hand?

Could this cause the problem and explain why is is intermittent?
