Re: Crank shaft not shifting
Thanks for all the support - She is running well and starts on the key. A few issues - one blown fuse, I also have the indicators on when the headlights are switched on so I am checking the earths. I am about to insure her and get an MOT. Not sure what might come up for an MOT but I have a local ...

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
Got a friend to help - another set of hands sorted the bolting on of the new starter and so we tried it out! The engine fired up and of course with some old petrol we turned it over quite a few times but what we noticed was sometimes it started and the engine spun up to 4000 rpm and then died. It i...

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
I am struggling to bolt on the new starter motor as the upper bolt passes throught the flywheel housing and a nut is required to be bolted on to the long bolt. See the diagram. I can't get the nut onto the threads (highlighted in yellow) - maybe I need someone to help? Any ideas welcome - I used a...

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
I have now removed the starter and the soldenoid moves when powered up but the motor does not turn over. So I have ordered a replacement (matched the part number of course). Will report back once fitted!

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
If it has been stood, then you should only try to turn the engine by hand On a first crank, I would have left the plugs out, and dipped the clutch to minimise the work for the starter motor. My DJ was kept under a cover in my back garden for 12 years. It was initially very stiff from being stood fo...

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
I turned over with the starter today with a new battery installed, the plugs removed and the distributor arm removed. It sounded fine and the oil light went our after three turnovers. So I put new spark plugs in and replaced the distributor arm. Then I turned the key and it sounded as if somethin...

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
Thanks for the update - 30mm socket fits the 3 pulleys as well as the single pulley. I got a low profile 3/8" socket sold as a low profile oil filter socket for a VW Polo and Golf. :ok Having removed the spark plugs and spraying some GT85 into the cylinders it turned over perfecly with a smal...

Re: Crank shaft not shifting
Thanks for all the information on this discussion - very helpful. I am about to get my 2.1 litre DJ engine to tun over after 10 years of it being stored. Please can anyone tell me the size of the bolt head on the crankcase pulley - looks like 32mm socket might fit but I need to buy one as I don't h...

Re: Lowering a T25/T3
Hi Neil Lots of data and ideas on lowering - check the WIKI (see the second item on the top of this page!). Of just use the search function for "lowering" I am in the middle of lowering by 40mm .. enough for me as my bum is not ready for a bumpy ride! However, removing the original...

Re: Anyone know much about JT3000 Caravelle's?
Looks a nice one and I bet the 3 litre engine gives a good acceleration (once the roo bars and toughened glass are removed!
)
I notice that although it was used in SA, the panels show it is a Euro vehicle - not a SA one - the side windows are smaller in the Euro T25.
