Glow Plugs Staying On

Hi all. We have a T25 with retro fitted 1Y - 1.9 circa 1985. Engine installed by VW specialist (I'm told) and glow plugs wired up correctly (we think). Battery went flat over night. Really flat. Pretty sure glow plugs staying on due to the relay be burnt. Replaced relay problem solved. Battery now s...

Re: Merc wheels finally fitted

Well that was a lively reply G60steve & Titus. Did you sleep OK that night. Feels like your blood pressure was running a bit high?????????????? Your absolutley correct on all counts. Once you buy a part and fit it yourself to your vehicle its your problem - no elses. That's why it is imperative ...

Re: Merc wheels finally fitted

Thanks guys. The most informative thread on bloody alloys I have seen so far. brickwerks comments didn't assist with their contradictions. "Less than 23mm will create problems and kill you or your van". "Hell we have to sell 25mm spacers to our customers - oh that'll be OK let's make ...

Re: Gearbox removal

Yep. That is what it is like getting old. In my younger years I once did a gearbox change on a Ford Transit on my own. Thought that I could do the same here. WRONG. I think that i am still recovering weeks after the event. Arthritic thumb still giving me jip. I am not sure why we do this. Maybe ther...

Re: Gearbox removal

Hi. I wrote this after fitting a replacement gearbox. Points to note are: You won't get in in on your own. I only used a wooden dowel and masking tap to get the right diameter to aligne the clutch - no probs with Aircooled dub and T25 diesel The angle of the dangle is imperative The bell housing is ...

Fitting rear studs for alloys

Hi all. I have done my homework. My brains a mess now with all the variants of wheel and tyre sizes. Spacers and radius or straight tapered wheel nuts. is it really worth it. Who knows. But still want to fit alloys????????? Anyway my final question to improve my confidence levels is about changing t...

Re: CS out 1yIn / gearbox ratio's CS to 1Y

Had thought about that. But got confused on whether bigger diameter wheels was good or bad. I mean gave a higher road speed against lower engine revs?????????
Without a tacho it is hard to hear whether we are over revving the engine badly, so we have'nt pushed past 55mph.
Cheers for info.

Re: CS out 1yIn / gearbox ratio's CS to 1Y

Sorry to butt in with this thread. I am learning a lot here as well. The reasoning behind my noseyness is that if we come across an ABD gearbox, even though its a petrol box it could be worth taking it as a spare should the need arise. Get you to re-work it, change over the diesel input shaft and be...
