Re: Hi Top or Pop Top?

On the question of lifting the pop top into place, the lady of the house manages fine when she takes our boy and dog away. She is 5' 3" and under 9 stone so hardly a giant. Mind, she is as hard as nails.

Re: Fuel Problem?

New spark plugs, fuel filter and a bit of carb tinkering and she is running nicely again.

Re: Fuel Problem?

New spark plugs, new fuel filter and adjustment of the carb has cured the problem.

I will arrange for a new fuel tank in the next week or 2.

Re: Fuel Problem?

Booked in for tomorrow at local garage. I have asked them to look at the filter. The garage used to deal with Dubs for many years and one of the fitters still works there. Will speak with him. She is a fantastic panel van. Some seam rust and I bashed the side panel too. She looks a bit rough but it ...

Re: Fuel Problem?

She was over half full when this happened. You could feel a clear change in the acceleration when the "problem" stopped, e.g. after a roundabout going up the gears. We could need a new tank as there was a leak when we filled up earlier in the day. As far as I know, it is the original tank....

Fuel Problem?

The 1.9DG petrol van developed a bit of a problem for the last 60 miles of a 2 day 400 mile trip. It felt like the van was driving into occasional gusts of wind. She was happy to start and tick over, she went up several long steep hills and kept going at 45 to 55mph - I didn't try any more but I thi...

Re: mpg........

My petrol 1.9DG (4 gears) does about 26mpg on long motorway trips at steady 55 - 60mph.

What was involved in the sorting out? Did you send the whole thing with your parts back to them?

Sounds like they sent more than one engine to you....

Thanks,

Pete.

Re: Sourcing an engine

Our recon engine sounded like a bag of spanners from the first start up. How anyone could dispatch something like that I don't know.

Then wants it back with all our stuff attached so it can be listened to and diagnosed.

No thanks.

Re: Sourcing an engine

We are having difficulty with the recon (CT 1600) we bought some months ago. The engine has a fault but as it came from across the country, getting it sorted is proving difficult. So if poss, I would use someone close enough to send someone out if there is a snag. Apart from trying to get a refund o...

Re: Oh Seams, bubbly seams!

My panel van has some seam rust, although it doesn't appear to be at an advanced stage. It is in most of the lower panels. I bought the van 14 months ago. The then owner had done a fairly crude paint job and had wire-brushed the seams. He showed me before/after photos so I have no suspicions that th...

Re: Fibre glass roof

We are coming to the conclusion that condensation is causing similar problems in our pop-top. In spite of being under a cover, everything is soaked around the roof vent and there are various accumulations of water elsewhere. As of today, we are leaving it with the cover off and the kitchen vents ope...
