Ok after travelling to a wedding yesterday and some formula one engineer said he thought the amount of oil consumption did point at piston rings (either that or it was a cheap chat up line)despite low mileage Just to recap Turbo Diesel 1.6 , new turbo fitted but still consuming approx 1 litre of oil...

I am using 15/40 oil.

I'll follow what you said - how annoying if it was piston rings, it just seems a big pit that I am launching money in to at the moment oh gawd =(

Hi Phil thanks for helping End of the exhaust is carbony when I run my hand on the inside but not sticky, no black specs on the tailgate, no blow out of dipstick, and bone dry no leaks... I had my turbo reconditioned would it be unusual if they'd not done a good job went to reputable local turbo pla...

I had the same problem and it was a crack on the seal of of the coolant tank so it was always dropping low - new tank sorted that. Also worth checking if it's the connection on the pipe as it leads to the link that runs it the length of the van (That doesn't sound very technical he he) that weeps so...

I have a T25 turbo diesel. It was using large quantities of oil, I changed the turbo, which was knackered and this drastically reduced the oil consumption. It drives like a dream but I am still using about 1 litre of oil per 150 - 200 miles - what is up?? people have said oil return pipe? Valve stem...
