Re: auto choke solex

The old beetle carb I have has none also cos I immediatly had a look in case I was missing them. However I remember fitting a man choke coversion to a ford V6 i owned and the choke b...

Re: auto choke solex
The pin from the flap sits inside the rectangular silver spring. With cold engine just put the cover back on with the choke flap fully closed (hold it closed with your finger if you need to) dont put tension on either way and tighten the three screws where it naturaly sits. Reconect the wire and it ...

Re: Oil From Gearbox- 4 Bolts ...
I guess you've checked to see if there is any oil in the box. If not I personaly would'nt drive it again until you have. Mine was leeking from gearbox front seal and when I took the plug out only about 500ml came out ! There should be 3litres in there! I consider myself lucky to have got away with t...

Re: auto choke solex
Hi There is an elecrtric shut off solanoid/valve on Left side of carb (looking at it from behind van) with a single wire. If this wire is not live with ignition on or there is no earth between carb and engine it wont idle. You can tell if it's working by switching ignition on and removing/replacing ...

Re: DF clutch replacement AHHHHHHH !!!
Hi Mark If you do this job yourself you are gona need a big trolly jack and a pair af axle stands or car ramps ( I used ramps) and dont forget to support the gearbox end of the engine when you remove the gearbox mounting. I used a length of stout rope, passing it through a hole in the body above the...

Re: Gearbox Oil Leak.
Gearbox oil would have been nice! there was only about 500ml in there. suprisingly the box seams fine no noises and just a bit stiff into 1st when hot. I guess I was lucky to tackle the clutch when I did.

Re: Help : Issue with engine power and overheating
Hi That tiny hole in header tank sounds familiar mine did it. Unfortunatly the tank is much lower than the radiator and part of the engine. this alowing your engine to run with insufficient water and overheat. If it was already knocking personaly I would'nt waste any money trying to fix it and would...

Gearbox Oil Leak.
Hi You may have seen my old clutch thread. I've removed the box and find clutch slip is due to oil contamination from gearbox input shaft seal. My question is how much play/wobble should there be in the mainshaft? Mine appears to have about 5mm when measured at the tip of the shaft. This equates to ...

Re: DF clutch replacement AHHHHHHH !!!
Ho HUm Gearbox is out without to much trauma. Cluth slipping because of gearbox oil contamination from leeking seal in front of gearbox. So my next question is ... How much play should there be in 1st motion shaft, mine has about 5mm of play when measured at end of shaft. Cheers Andy

Dam..... I've just shelled out £100 on a kit 215mm. Oh well thats the way things go. I've decided to do the gearbox out underneath thing, gona change gearbox oil while its out, any recomendations for the best oil? mine is a bit stiff into 1st when hot (even though I,ve changed the gearleaver bushes)...
