Re: Trying to work out this wiring....

Hmm, all useful info, thanks. :ok Its set up exactly as detailed in their videos as far as I can see. Its not an install done by me, and was already in there when purchased. It does look like quite a recent install though, and was a lot neater than this before I started poking around to see what's w...

Re: Leisure battery

Yup that leisure battery has been purchased by quite a few people on here...bare in mind that this battery is actually 80Amp/Hr and NOT 100 as stated (its all to do with how they measure battery draw, Alpha have chosen to choose a different measuring scale compared to 99% of other manufactures.. th...

Trying to work out this wiring....

Hey! OK, this may be a (very) silly question, but I'm trying to work out what going on with the wiring in my van. I "sort of" get the basics, but what are the two silver things attached to battery compartment chassis floor? :?: These all seems really complicated compared to any diagrams I'...

Re: smoke in the cab....

It's not a bad idea to block off the ends of the pipes you disconnected, just to keep them clean really. Not much point trying to block off the ends of the heat exchangers, if the flaps are open, anything you put on there will just get blown off. You won't hurt anything running with those pipes dis...

Re: smoke in the cab....

Thanks, so there is no issue in disconnecting the two completely? do I need to block up the open pipe there? Or can I just remove the pipes back to the cab completely? Im aware fumes might be getting sucked back up that pipe. Needless to say I shall be trying to get the leak sorted (its not huge, to...

Re: smoke in the cab....

Im going to answer myself.... Ive just got under the van and had a proper poke around after reading another thread on here. That opening is from the nearside heat exchanger so I assume smoke can deffo be sucked back up into the cab here correct? The other end of the pipe is just hanging out of sight...

smoke in the cab....

Hi all, can I pick the collective knowledge please? A couple of times now I've got smoke in the cab, particularly noticeable when I stop at traffic lights, it is coming from the air vents and the floor/bottom of the dash. I'm driving a 1981 air-cooled. I'm presuming this is oil burning (or something...

European Breakdown cover, seems cheap....

Hey there, I was just looking for some breakdown cover for our French adventure next week.....(Yes, I've left it till the last minute)..... I only really need 2 weeks cover, but the usual AA and RAC seem excessive at about 100 quid for a one off trip. A search of the forum hasn't thrown up a huge am...

Re: Declaring height for ferry to France

....this thread is of big interest to me. :D I just booked on the norfolkline line recently, 69quid in peak season, campervan under 2.4m high and 5m long. Thought nothing of it. Nice price, job done. :ok Then in a moment of clarity, I thought: "is my van really under 2.4m and 5m?? Tape measure ...

Like I say, flexible sheathed cable. Something like this for the fridge and lighting. I'm not suggesting you buy it from this source though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Twin-Core-2mm-Thin-Wall-Flat-Cable-5M-Length-/160519327417?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item255fb28eb9" onclick=&q...

Re: Camping side electrical questions...

Hi 1664, thanks for the reply.... :D ....I spent last night reading around the forum and getting a handle on things, I'm going to get back in the van today and take another look. Yeah, I take your point about being a novice, but I'm usually fairly good at doing stuff myself with a bit of a pointer s...

Re: Camping side electrical questions...

I had a closer look this evening and have a better idea whats going on - i.e. nothing. I'm thinking the entire electrics side was removed for some reason - I'm not 100% but I think the one cable I have coming into the back of the kitchen unit is actually only the other end of the water pump cable fr...

Re: How do I fix a baby carrier using a lap belt?

Ta, sounds ok to me... I dont have any belts, so its the lock bit on the seat that I'm thinking might stump me - my water tank is directly under, full length, so I guess I just need to drill further back on the engine cover and attach some sort of fixing point the other side. 8) Actually dont worry...
