Re: whuch exhaust to buy?
does not really matter just make sure you put new exhaust mounting rubbers on at same time I did not and exhaust silencer pipe snapped off Thanks for sharing that, I shall be sure to do so. I have only changed a mid-section on an old Volvo before, but I will have some help from a family friend with...

Re: whuch exhaust to buy?
Impossible to say without direct comparison but put in simple maths terms, you can get nearly 3 cheep ones for the price of the expensive one. So, if the cheep one lasts only half as long as the other it will still work out better value. Personally, if you intend keeping the van for longer than the...

whuch exhaust to buy?
Hello again. Now it is time to change the exhaust on the army bus. My question is; should I buy a cheap one or an expensive one? I can pay from €103.09 to €286.99 for a set. http://www.auspuffanlage.de/public/catalog_xmlxslproducts.aspx?suid=8758&art=viewproduct&productid=2186151&opr=1&a...

fuel cut-off terminal worn away!
I wonder if anyone else has seen this. The bus was occasionally experienced shuddering transmission, when we lost all power an AA man found the fuel cut-off switch connector had worked its way loose. We had the same thing happen again recently and I found that the terminal onto which the connector p...

Re: Service 17D specs/advice
Thanks for the advice. HOWEVER ... since the oil change, we now have the blinking oil pressure light on (light only, no buzzer) when braking/running slow. We had to finish our journey, so we ignored it. Could it be as a result of different oil, or is it more likely as a result of my changing the ins...

Re: Service 17D specs/advice
In short....the 1.7D has no issues with blue antifreeze and does not need to be confined to the use of 15W 40 mineral oil. A 10W 40 or 15W 40 are fine, as are semi synthetics, in fact I would be inclined to use a 'Diesel specific' semi synthetic oil, perhaps best to stick with a 15W40 if your engin...

Re: Oil pressure switch spec

Re: Oil pressure switch spec
ok ... I have fitted the new 1.4 bar black for the high pressure, leaving the old brown 0.25 for the low pressure, as I do not have a blue 0.3 now. I think that is the one that has been there since we got the bus. We are on the road tomorrow, please let me know if I should get a blue to replace the ...

Re: Oil pressure switch spec
Yes you need a 0.3 bar switch for the low pressure switch on all engines. The high pressure switch is 1.4 bar for non turbo and 0.9 bar for turbo engines. thank you for that. Luckily I have both 1.4 and 0.9 now! I am going to have to trust that the 0.3 brown is ok ... these were all mixed up after ...

Re: Oil pressure switch spec
I just received two new oil switches as described by the member above, but I think one is wrong. from the wiki: Typically the low/low is set at about 0.25~0.3 bar, depending on vehicle and switch (colour) code. Typically the high/low is set at about 0.9~1.4 bar, depending on vehicle and switch (colo...

Re: leaky windscreen
mastic all the way round. and quite a lot too. The water collects when the bus stands in prolonged rain; on the road it seems less of a problem. I have had a nose around with a torch. It drips onto the inside of the front wheel arches from some point above them; it also collects on whichever side is...

Oil pressure switch spec
OK, I need to know which oil pressure switches to order. for 1990 1.7 diesel non-turbo. I did check the wiki, found this https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/All_engine_faults/repairs/maintenance_Dashboard_oil_pressure_warnings_and_causes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but it is sti...
