Thanks for all of the help that people have posted. Steve at Gassure has got in touch and let me know that he can hellicoil it in situ so I'm going to nurse it to chester and get it done.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still a bit unsure what to do. I would really like to take the head of, get it helicoiled and then job done, but for that I reckon I'll have to take the engine out and then may aswell do a whole lot on the engine - and to be honest I hav'nt really got the time. Got a potential nightmare on my hands. As I was driving normally the other day, my 1989 watercooled 1.9 started chugging like a tractor and slowed up a bit. 6 to 8mm compression coupler

Hi, I really hope that someone can help me. I am trying to fit a propex heater into my camper which needs an 8mm pipe going into the back of it. Thanks for all of the messages and help, this forum is great!

I checked the van again and reckon it is the CV joint like you said Martin. The gears are a different problem, but I've changed the oil for the gearbox and it seems fine.

Thanks for the reply california, but if it's the CV joint would'nt the noise carry on when the clutch is depressed?

Hi, I've recently been around france in my camper and by the end of the journey, a constant and steady click developed. Since then it has got steadily worse and yesterday the gears started to become really heavy to move. The clicking stops when I put the clutch down and to be honest I am at a loss. ...
