Re: Wing mirrors
Mine haven't moved for the last ten + years so you must have done something wrong. I must have done something wrong? It's just to pair of ball sockets, it's not rocket science. I understand the methodology perfectly. Sand / rubber washer are the same method of securing them, for me, one works and o...

Re: Wing mirrors
I used the sand idea, but didn't work. Two different types of sand - nothing. But I found an idea using rubber tap washers. Perfect! Now they doesn't slip.

Thanks mate, no wonder it’s difficult to fit when two specialist companies have 7mm differs! VW Heritage also have 10x643.

Water pump belt
Hello all. First of all, I’ve had a stroke, so I’m sorry about my strange grammar. The problem is that my 1.6 diesel water pump belt squeals. Checking the belt it had quite a lot of play. I tried to adjust the pulleys, with no shims, but can’t adjust it enough. So I bought a new one (JustKampers) 10...

Re: Installing a flat panel TV
The B pillar is the pillar that the doors lock on to. The A pillar is the pillar that the doors hinge from. So across the roof between the B pillars, behind the lining, there is a strength member that’s welded to the roof. You can drill that, making sure that you don’t go through the roof as well, a...

Re: Instrument cluster lights
Welcome. The flexible printed circuit mats in the speedo are notorious for poor or high resistance connections, especially the dash lights. Take the bulbs out and carefully clean the connections on the bulbs and the printed circuit. That usually does the trick.

Re: Installing a flat panel TV
It’s a bit difficult without knowing the layout of the van, but why not fit a pull down flat screen? Mine is fixed to the roof strength member than runs between the B pillars. It can be viewed from the back seat or laying in bed. https://club8090.co.uk/forum/posting.php?mode=reply&f=39&t=990...

Terrible camp site in Essex. Don't go there!
We’ve just has a terrible few days camping in Essex. Not my usual choice of camp site. I prefer sites nearer the coast, but somebody said that it’s a very popular site and that there’s always a load of people there. In fact we were lucky to get in. The site was called Dale Farm, near Basildon. Whate...

Re: 2 Dead Batteries
Although what Kev says is correct for most relays the usual, more modern, type of split charge relay is slightly different. You’ll have a + 12v input, the connection from the main battery, a + 12v output, the connection to the leisure battery (both thick red wires), and a – 12v that usually connects...

Re: 2 Dead Batteries
You definitely have a drain somewhere, a partial short to earth. Given the receipts for the charging faults and the missing fuse, you may have a couple of faults. First, the drain (I had a problem with a flip down TV/DVD player. In the end I fitted an on/off switch), that should be relatively easy t...

Re: A chilling thread?
I’ve got a similar box to you, but mine is 12v or 240v. You’re right; it does drain the battery, so I only use it on 12v whilst the engine’s running or for short periods. Obviously, if you haven’t got hook up it can’t be used, but if you have its brilliant. To be honest, other than the conventional ...

Park Farm near Bodium http://www.parkfarmcamping.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; We went there on May bank holiday and it was brilliant. There were loads of vans and even a wedding party. I've never seen so many fires and parties going on. They encourage fires (they s...

That flashing red coolant level light again!
Hi all I hope that someone can help, because I don’t know where to go from here. The flashing low coolant level light is on all the time. As soon as I turn on the ignition the light starts flashing and doesn’t go out. I’ve read all the archive posts and the Wiki section too, but I’ve come to a full ...

Re: Paris
I agree, this is a great site. However, I was last there in 2005, so it may have changed since then. It is a bit more expensive than most French sites, but hey, it’s in Paris next to the Seine! I don’t know about the short walk bit though. The Bois de Boulogne is a pretty big park. Takes your bikes ...
