ball joints will turn with a mucky thread unless the taper is locked into the stub axle. I did see a thread on here some time ago berating the quality of replacement joints so hearsay would indicate best to keep the original unless knocking or perished boot

how about a block of wood between the top of wishbone and the bottom of the seat box then jack from below to ensure compression on the taper gather than gravity

When this happened on mine it was the head gasket letting by and over pressure in the system, worth having a sniff test done at your local garage for combustion gasses in the coolant

Thank you for your help, the pin had come out and was in the cover of the arm rest, retensioned pin a little by wedging it open with a screwdriver and twisting and it is now fitted firmly :ok Did notice a slight exhaust blow when moving away from the fence , feared rthe worst when found the top bolt...

Thank you Shepster, panic over, was aware of the roll pin but it hadn't occurred to me that it may have come out, now I wonder where it has gone, parked against fence so will look when rain stops

I have the fuel tank out at the moment due to the gauge not functioning fully. Do any of you helpful people know the ohms range for the tank sender 251 919 051 E with my multimeter on 200 ohm range I am getting infinity at lowest movement then just off there 184 ohms (reserve) and 52 at the highest ...

Hi Stu, watching with interest, I thought that the brake and clutch pedal switches were a safety requirement to switch off the cc ecu, my Audi cc certainly works that way

The 'Ultimate engineering' conversion that I have on mine has an ABS ring fitted to the gearbox end cv joint which sends pulse to the orange box, this gives complete and seamless speed regulated variable assistance, cannot fault it in any way

When doing the plumbing on the buggy engine I used copper pipe and 'yorkshire' soldered joints these have a moulding for the solder and work well as a 'barb' to improve the copper to rubber joint

If it drove ok before the engine swap I would suspect a linkage issue due to unsupported gearbox, or maybe collapsed spigot bearing preventing correct clutch operation
