Re: High Idle Speed
Thanks for the reply Kev, I will be removing the carb and check the Cam operation, I've also checked your previous posts, which is very helpful. The one thing I can't get my head around is the van idle's correctly at 900 rpm when the vacuum pipe is disconnected, but once connected goes up to 1600 rp...

Re: High Idle Speed
Thanks Neil, I have searched Google until I can't look at the screen any longer and there is a lot of information. Most issues I found was for poor idling, low rpm, cutting out, but not much for high rpm, but I will try another search. One thing I do want to look at is the fast idle cam adjustment, ...

High Idle Speed
I have a 1988 VW T25 and recently fitted a second hand 1.9 DG engine with the same Pierburg 2E3 Carburettor, that was installed with the old engine. I fitted new leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm. When I start the engine the choke flap is at the correct setting after depressing the accelerator p...

Re: Replace Water Jacket Seal or not?
Thank for correcting me, Studs and nut rather than bolt. Regarding the sealant, is this the one you mean? https://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Sealant-Waterboxer-cylinder-head-nuts-AKD45600002_act_shop.product_pID_114199218.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'm starting to...

Re: Replace Water Jacket Seal or not?
We'll I have the time as we don't need to use the van until next year, just would be nice to get it finished before it starts getting too cold and I'm fairly confident in myself just not so much in the studs coming out! Ha ha I will try the method wih blow lamp and tappy tappy and see if the bolts w...

Re: Replace Water Jacket Seal or not?
Thanks for the advice, I was thinking it if ain't broke don't fix it, so probably just keep it as it is. I'm doing a full service which will include the G12+ coolant and all parts from brickwerks, so hopefully this will keep it running nicely for a while. Wish I came on here before buying the engine...

Re: Replace Water Jacket Seal or not?
Thanks for getting back to me.
The replacement engine is 1984 1.9 DG WBX, but I currently have a 1988 version of this engine with the later version cooling system and exhaust, so in the process of swapping the parts over.

Re: Replace Water Jacket Seal or not?
Also to add, I have read a lot about trouble with snapping cylinder head bolts. Is this something that could likely happen and anyway of a good prevention?

Replace Water Jacket Seal or not?
I'm currently in the process of swapping my 1.9 DG WBX for a replacement of the same kind. Before I put the replacement engine in, I'm going to replace the crankshaft oil seals, rocker cover gaskets, coolant seals/gaskets and inlet manifold gaskets. Also a full service. I noticed when cleaning the e...
