Re: Automatic gearbox, stays in 2nd
Well I checked the level this evening. The oil was up at the twist in the dipstick when the engine was cold and stationary. When I rechecked as instructed by friend Haynes (at operating temperature, engine running) the level was still significantly higher than the maximum level, but below the twist....

Automatic gearbox, stays in 2nd
Hi all,
I have a watercooled 1.9 DG, 1985 with automatic gearbox. Recently it has taken to refusing to change up into top gear. It starts in 1st, goes to second between 15 and 20mph and then stays there.
Do I need a new gearbox?

Re: Fuel filter contents
Thanks Ian.
Glad not to have to drop the tank. It's full and I need to think twice before refilling these days

Fuel filter contents
Hi there,
I changed the petrol filter on my recently acquired DG engined T25 last weekend and was surprised to see what looked like brass shavings on the petrol tank side. Where would they have come from? Would it have made sense to have cleaned out the petrol tank at the same time?
Thanks
John
