Hi
Can anyone recommend a quality / reliable Pierburg carb rebuilder for my late 1.9 DG transporter. As per forum advice I was going with Bromyard however they are temporarily out of action so I need an alternative quality rebuilder.
Thanks in advance

Distributor drive removal issue, 1990 DG
I need to remove the distributor drive from my 1990 DG 1.9 Transporter, I have seen a few posts which recommend using various methods, however can anyone tell me the definitive method of extraction please. I have seen a few adverts for a specific tool, looks a bit pricey and mostly advertised in th...

Re: Oil pressure relief
Hi thank you. Yes I took it back out and reassembled using the old parts and it was sorted. I now need to research the forum again as I used it and it ran fine, however on another trip last night the engine completely failed. It has a lot of miles on it and was smoking, especially after long hill...

Oil pressure relief
Hi Hope someone can help me out here, my oil pressure relief valve seal started leaking (1.9 1990 water-cooled). I changed the seal and spring seeing as it was out, drove off and after a few yards the oil pressure warning came on. I am going to take it back off and put the origional spring in ton...

Fuel pump question.
Hi I appreciate this has been covered extensively, however I have a different take on the pump and would like to run it past the forum. I have owned my 1.9 DG for about twenty years, ran absolutely fine, however about three years ago it started showing fuel pump symptoms, I didn't know at the ti...

Re: Gearbox question
Hi Aidan, Thank you for taking the time to give such a comprehensive reply, I found your explanation not only extremely helpful, but also very reassuring, because fortunately I flagged this almost as soon as the fault manifested itself and thankfully as you say, I have been very careful with the ch...

Gearbox question
Hi, would appreciate some feedback on the following re the gearbox in my 1.9 DG, 1990, standard 5 speed box. I have started to get a gear crunch when changing from 1st to second, (nothing else), i can avoid it by slowly changing into 2nd when the van has just started moving, i.e not holding 1st un...

Sure I paid about £100 for it, wasn't exchange, old one had completely failed meaning I was off the road.

Re: Starter Motor Noise
Thanks for the responses, the factors I bought it from have a good reputation and it certainly did'nt look like a poor part, but of course you never know. I needed to get it running ASAP. Looking at the feedback and other posts I think the best plan is to take it back out and check over again, eve...

Re: Starter Motor Noise
Yes I changed the bush, stood it in oil prior to installation as guide states. I'm going to have to re-visit the whole thing again to see if I can spot anything. Strange how the fault is intermittent.

Starter Motor Noise
Hi Would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has experienced the following. My 1.9 1990 DG would not turn over a few days ago, the starter had failed so I fitted a new one, it then started without a problem, up to that point there were no issues whatsoever. Over the next few days I noticed tha...

Re: E10 Petrol
Thanks Sarran, that's good info and reassuring.
Mine has new up to date fuel lines however not right on top of the tank. That said, the tank on mine needs replacing so will sort everything in one fix.

E10 Petrol
I had a news article pop up on my phone stating that the current petrol sold at the moment (E5), will in a few years change to a type named E10. Apparently current petrol grades in the UK contain up to 5% bioethanol, known as E5. The proposed E10 fuel increases the share of the renewable energy made...

Re: Bumper End Caps
I too have the same problem, but can't see end caps on the Euro Car Parts website, unless it's me. I have a 1990 'big bumper model' as I believe it's known as, and need both sides rear. I see Brickwerks seem to have them in flat grey primer, I was going to post a request for help to see what fellow ...

Re: Sliding door bearings
Hi, I had the same problem but given the stresses on it from use I had to go for a whole new unit and save my old one as a spare with the new bearings fitted to it.
