Re: Rear jacking point repair.
i have been using a dedicated dropbox folder to host images. If I use the add photo button, I put the dropbox share link into the URL box. I have to change the last character of the URL to '1' instead of '0' It appears that at least one person can't see the images though. Can everyone see this one? ...

Re: Re-mapping AHU TDI
And thanks rollercoaster, I shall give them a buzz and pick their brains. I have been using Richards Bros for the Caddy so I might try them too. I'd not thought of that.

Re: Headlights washers electrical connetions 89' Multivan
The part number shown on ETKA is 701955200 This is different to the part number shown on the Washer relay I removed temporarily (had to remove it for a while as I had to cut the very crusty original pipes to remove the headlamp grille). This is my one (I think) but this is apparently a fuel pump rel...

Re: Can a T25 run an alternator charger?
The specs say this:INPUT: Input Voltage: 12V -14V / 22.5V - 28V Input Amperage: 50A - 12V / 25A - 24VSo I would have thought a standard alternator should be fine. You might want to prioritise charging the starter batter first though maybe so perhaps you could run it through a VSR of h...

Re: Intermittent power issue, CU engine
I'm going back a long way to remember driving a 2l Aircooled. I had one with a single webber which was very lacklustre but with occasional bursts of epic-ness. I discovered it had air leaks one the various manifold rubber joiners. I fixed the leaks and that became my second favourite engine of all t...

You haven't mentioned air filter in your list of done things.

Re: AFN TDI Obd scanner
I second that. I have a £6 ish bluetooth dongle from Ebay and use torque pro app on an old android and I can keep an eye on all sorts of things that would otherwise remain a mystery.

Re: Re-mapping AHU TDI
Thanks Aidan. My maths back in 2013 was the £2.5k + cost of a 112i rebuild or my mates low mileage golf 3 AHU tdi for £300 :D Plus, back in the day I was foolishly trying to get off fossil fuels and it ran happily on used oil biodiesel ( still does but my mate not making much anymore) I do also lov...

Re: Re-mapping AHU TDI
I use torque app on my phone with a bluetooth dongle in the OBD port, and I can keep an eye on many things with that. It's ace. I only just found why I had no feed from the W connection from the alternator, so have been using Torque for revs until recently. It was also useful to calibrate the van re...

Re: Re-mapping AHU TDI
The boost doesn't really kick in til over 3k revs so it feels like I'm giving it beans all the time, shifting at the top of the green range (on the t3 diesel rev counter at least) which is close to 4.5k IIRC. To be fair, I still haven't fitted the chargecooler so that could make a whole world of dif...

Re-mapping AHU TDI
Is this possible? When I put the engine in 12 years ago, I thought I could get it re mapped ( because it has an ECU) to suit pushing a Syncro Westy around instead of a Golf. I have started looking for information about this and cant seem to find anything definitive. I could just do with more torque ...

Re: AHU TDI Vibration Damper Pulley testing
I bought a clutch pulley and tried to fit it yesterday. It didn't go very well. the axle of my Valeo alternator with the fixed pully is 20mm and the and only catches the clutch pulley by a couple of threads. Plus, the Valeo has a recess around the axle into which fits a sticky-outy bit on the normal...

In case it is the hall sender:
I bought this one
and unsoldered the new style plug and soldered my old plug on to it instead rather than alter my lovely 40 year old uncut loom.
