2lt Aircooled stuttering uphill / under load

Not sure if this should be in electrical or mechanical. I've got a 2lt Aircooled which has a set of 40 DRLA Dellortos. On a trip recently on the way home it was running fine on the flat, but when going up hill it would splutter and slow right down to maybe 30 in 3rd on the hills on the A34. As the c...

2.0 Gearbox code location

I have recently aquired what I have been told is a gearbox from a CU engined van. I'm guessing that it is an early box as the shift mechanism is right at the nose as opposed to halfway down the casing. The problem is I don't know where to go looking for the identification code. Re: JK single weber kit for CU - any good?

I'd second the opinions above about Dells.

Put a set on mine recently and it has made such a difference I won't be going back. My only problem is I don't think the MPG will be any better as the induction noise is just so addictive.

Re: NON VW - AUDI brakes

If they are anything like on the A3 they are fairly easy to do, but you will need a caliper wind back tool to get the piston back into the caliper.

Re: I finally done it!

If you mean then rubber conector that goes from the fuel filler cap to the tube that goes down into the tank you can still buy them new. They are listed on Brickwerks http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=318&category_id=114&m...

Thanks for that, I don't suppose that you have plans for what you built as it looks really good, just what I'd like to build? Or failing that some more pictures from other angles?

Re: Solex vac pipes

Is yours an Aircooled with the twin solex PDSIT? I have some pictures but they own't help unless it is what you have as I believe they are quite different to anything else.

Hi, what are you using in the way of wood to make the interior, as I'm going to be tackling the interior in mine soon?

Just take the two bolts out and move it the other side of that flange on the gearbox.

And I thought it was just me that put it on wrong last weekend, well I feel better now :D

I took the "idling enrichment" unit (according to Mr Haynes) apart and this is what is inside http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj43/j4jon/Bus/th_P1020502.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj43/j4jon/Bus/th_P1020503.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj43/j4jon/Bus/th_P1020504.jp...

You maybe right but my carb from that side is missing the choke butterfly, and as the carbs came with the engine I was hoping that they would be set about right mixture wise
