so where do i look to get a 1Y engine?
what cars have them in?
and can a "normal" mechanic (who deals with classics usually) do this easily or do i need a T25 specialist?
thanks
helen

I don't really want our van to be scrapped s...

He has tried to remove the cover to start all over again but one of the bolts has...

Hi all, Well decided to have a go at the gasket today. Got the rocker cover off and found a very tired looking gasket, but it also looked like there was previously some sort of sealant. So next question is do I apply sealant? And is there any particular type of sealant I should use? Just in case th...

Re: Oil Leak
Check your dipstick as well, I have 16 diesel and my dipstick seal had gone so the oil was blowing out of there onto the exhaust causing lots of mess on back. New dipstick done the job. I think there are signs of oil coming out of the dipstick. Had a look on JustKampers for a new one, couldn't see ...

Well I guess I'm not really sure as I am a novice, but here's a link to the diagram of the cylinder head on vagcat. The oil is coming out from just about where the number 19 is pointing. http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1984/4/49/51396/ Also here's a link to some actual photos of the what I think...

Cleaned engine and found source of leak - looks like its coming from under the cylinder head cover, which I guess means its the head gasket. Now I reckon I should be able to get a new gasket from any good motor shop, but is there anything I should know before I attempt to replace the gasket, which l...

Further to my previous post (about 20 mins ago). Looking futher on busdepot it actually calls the part a 'Heater Hose to Pump/Exp Tank' in its catalog, which makes things confusing, because the initial google listing says its a hose for radiator/oil cooler. anyway I think it is actually pump/exp tan...

Have managed to get the part number on vagcat, couldn't work out how to order anything from them though - have also found part for sale in US at busdepot.com. This is the way they have listed the part - (this is exactly what it is): 068121081C. 3 Way Hose Radiator/Oil Cooler To Pump, 83-84 Diesel Va...
