Glaze buster

I had a new TD engine put into my T25 a few years ago - brand new block etc and used a 10/40 mineral oil as recommended for the first 1000 miles to allow bedding in. However the van is now using loads of oil which I suspect may be due to bore glazing. Has anyone had any experience in using glaze busting fuel additives or is the engine going to require stripping down?.
