Just campers GT exhaust on a wasserboxer?

Hey guys,

Is it possible to fit this exhaust http://www.justkampers.com/shop/2-tip-g ... 12149.html to a 1.9 dg engine? I'm guessing it's possible but I want to know if it's been done and if so, how!

The reason is that my back box is almost dead and the GT system is cheaper, better looking and sounds better!

Thanks in advance
Rich

If you read both customers reviews below the product on the JK site they both talk about fitting this to there 1.9DG T25's....so it must be possible (the main issue appears to be rear vallance clearance)

However, if you want my opinion, Empi exhausts are made of re-cycled baked bean cans and will be rusted through in under two years.

Won't last five minutes. Better to fit my bike can mod (its in the WIKI) as the box is stainless and you have a massive range of good used cans to choose from including chrome and black finishes. Again you'll need to adapt rear apron for clearance as Martin says, but you do get a moderate improvement in power as well as banishing rusty tail pipes. Everyone seems to like the sound of mine - gives a nice grumble without bordering on being a wide boy annoyance or being a magnet for plod.

In fact, you just need the header pipe - you can pretty much bolt what you like to that - within reason. Bike cans are cheap as chips.

You can do similar with later systems too but you'll need to fabricate a joining piece and support bracket.

I have one fitted to my DG engine T25, its a pretty easy fit, and looks good initially, it does however look "pooh" after less than a year.. Mine is being change for a full stainless system soon..
It's pretty cheap, but a false economy..

I have a rear can off a Bandit 1200 which i mocked up in 2 positions,
First was coming of the cast elbow but it needs supporting (later exhurst set up)
Second was direct replacement for the back box, fits well using vw supports.
Sounded well and looks good, best was the first option for looks.
All for £20 of fleabay

A twin can system would be the dogs balls

I bought one of those a couple of months ago.. It is quite noisy.. The valance does need either bashing up or pulling out to make room..

Personally I think it looks and sounds nice.. but I was getting really bad fuel economy so I put the original back on.. However the exhaust swap has made no diffrence Im still geting sub 10 mpg so I think it had nothing to do with it..

The paint does burn off fast and it does rust quick.. but Im sure a tin of heatproof paint could solve this..

on JK they have an standard silencer for a few more quid.. in honesty I wish Id gone for that as the GT is louder than I expected..
