Driveshaft Rubber Damper

Could someone please confirm which end of the shaft has the rubber damper?
I removed the shaft 2 years ago for repair and can't find any note I might have made (getting a bit old).
Bentley Manual says "damper faces transmission". For me, the drive shaft is part of the transmission.
Is "transmission" American for "gearbox", i.e. the damper is at the forward end of the shaft?
