Hi all, i hope maybe to find a solution to my problem. Whilst driving i noticed both temp and fuel gauge stopped working i think i have checked all connections and cleaned the earth crowns, i was told is was the voltage stabilizer, however i have also been told the 1984 watercooled t25's don't have these. Getting a little confused now

. Can anyone help out with some advise?

Cheers Al

from a previous thread (not mine)
the voltage stabiliser effects the fuel, temp and also has a feed into the oil pressure warning system..
my local VW dealer was able to order me in a new Voltage Stabiliser, at an incredible £16 +vat!! hope it fixes the problem at that much!
gave the multiplug a wiggle
I would take the whole instrument pod off and thoroughly inspect it. its very easy. remove the cowling over the top. push out the switches, headlights/hazard light etc. pull out speedo cable and muti pin connector from rear. undo screws holding pod to the dash. Lift and and inspect the pcb tracks on the back. check for any sign of damage/corrosion or splitting of the tracks. Check the multi pin connector and makes sure all the pins inside it are not bent back….

Thanks, I will give it a go. Kind regards al.
Apparently the fault could be the voltage resistor, which is removable resistor held at the back of the dash onto the plastic pcb. easy to remove however i cannot source one, and i am very reluctant to buy another complete dash pod, unless i can get one cheap. Has anyone got any ideas they could throw this way?
Kind regards alan
