An awning that lets light in ?? Any ideas ?

Hi, after a week away with variable weather, we thought we would look to get an awning so if it is raining, we can sit in there and play games etc with the kids instead of getting hot and sticky in the van.
However, we would like an awning that isn't too big but lets lots of light in - we don't want to be in the dark when we do sit in the van, and when we are in the awning we would like to have big windows so we can still be nosy buggers.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Ringo

We have just bought a Sunncamp frame awning for the same reason, a bit bulky though when packed down.
There is the Navigator which is similar to a tunnel but has a lot of windows.

We have the JustCampers Munich2 and find it great, got the inner tent to go with it, the kids would love it I'm sure. One side opens up completely, window and door in the other side so plenty of light.

And on the new ones you can actually roll up the window(s) to just have a fly screen, so plenty of fresh air as well.

Both of those look really good.
However, they are massive!
Does the Munich2 fold up to a reasonable size or is it very bulky and heavy as it looks ?
Thanks

Nice one - have got it watched.
I've got van and wife problems at the moment. The van won't start and the wife doesn't like any awning that i show her.
We have seen the really old awnings on T2's - they were pretty similiar to the munich but about half the size - she liked that!

The Munich is not that big when up(that,s wot they all say) its only 2*3 metres,my missus said the same ,that she thought it was to big but said the other day, when sat in it ,that it wasn't that big after all,I would have thought with kids the more room the better.

Nice one Don - have just ordered it.
After giving the wife a slide show of what awnings are available it soon became apparent that the munich 2 was the one to go for.
Will have to have a play putting it up before we go away....
Thanks again

You and the Missus won't be dissapointed Ringo,we have just got back from 3 days in the Cotswolds,it was nice to have the awning opened up,great stuff.

After a couple of weeks away in the van the awning performed brilliantly - im very impressed and so is the wife.
One thing that i would like is to get a few zips in so the one side that doesn't lift up will do.
Anyway, its good. Recommended.

Glad you both liked it Ringo,I see your point about the zips but it's nice to have a little bit of privacy.

Yep, mine came with groundsheet and the inner tent at no extra cost.
The groundsheet isn't a breathable - so that means its banned at some campsites.
I never actually put the inner tent up - but am glad we have it as it will get used at vanfest (if they let me by the camping ticket on the gate!).
