Drivers side Outer Sill....

Hi Guys,

My T25 has just failed it's MOT (suprise suprise!), BUT it was only on the drivers side outer sill which needs to be replaced.

So I was wondering where I can get a replacement, and what is involved with welding this?

Is it going to be an expensive job at the mechanics??

Cheers,

Kath :ok

Not a massive job to do, but it also depends on if you have a fridge up against the side. If you have expect to have a rotten floor as well. :(
If the floor is good though you will get away with just doing the lower sill which is fairly straight forward.
Pics would help :ok

Thanks guys for your 'optimistic' advice! lol :D

Until the paint comes off I guess I'm not sure how far up the rot goes! But the MOT tester said the floor was the 'best he'd seen' - which is good news re: the fridge (fingers crossed!)

Will let you all know of the damage or lack of! ( I should be so lucky!) when the rusty bit are revealed!.....to be continued :D

Hey kath take no notice of our banterinng.
it can be a relatively simple repair depending wether you cover it over or go further, you see more from inside behind the fridge, the floor you see from underneath is often good or very good :D the bit that really rots out is above the sill and not really seen from below,

Cheers Mike and MM, and it's a good job I like the bantering!

Well... all will be revealed tomorrow regarding how far the rot has gone, to be honest my van will probably need a bit (being optimistic again! lol) of work over winter, as it's got seam rot which needs attending to! and with that I guess I'm then pricing up a respray! and the list goes on and on...as is usually the case!

You lot of 'professionals' will have to fill me in on how to upkeep such an old banger! I depend on sound advice from the like of you! lol

I do hope she's ready for the weekend though, as I'm off to the seaside (or I hope I am!)

Cheers,

Kath :ok

You're not kidding Jim! lol

Well... my mechanic mate has given me the verdict....as suspected the rust goes further up! So he's got a panel from Schofield's that would do it all, BUT....here's the thing, I NEED to use the van this weekend so he's gonna have to just do an MOT repair, as to get the whole thing chopped out and welded in it wouldn't be ready in time! Cos that would mean taking all the cupboards out, fridge etc...

So it may have cost me a bit more and a waste of a good panel, but if needs must eh? :( I can see Connie the Camper needing a whole new bloody side by the time I'm done investigating the rot! lol wish she was made of fibreglass! lol :rollin

Until next time guys......

Well, if you go the roller paint job route, any subsequent panel replacement is a doddle to match in.
