2.0 air cooled, new clutch, whats easiest

gearbox out or engine out ?
haynes says box, but I'm used to bays splits and bugs where you always take the engine out

whats the quickest ?

pulled the engine, was a doddle to do, no faffing about with driveshafts and clutch slave cylinders
didn't take long either

How long did it take you to change the clutch via the 'engine out' method then?

How easy was it to drop the engine?

I usually go down the 'gearbox out' route.

think about 2-3 hours at the most
disconnect wiring, accelerator cable, servo pipe on the topside
fuel pipe, heat exchanger cables + pipes, starter wire underneath
the 4 bolts on the support bar and the 4 engine to box bolts
lower on the jack and pull backwards
chock the flywheel, change clutch
reverse all the stuff above

ye have to agree gearbox out and renew the bushes at the same time on the box they are plastic i think you will find
