Random question I know,
Does the thick black ignition live cable that comes into the engine bay with the loom stay live whilst cranking?

What he said but with the understanding that you will see a fair voltage drop when cranking due to the high amp demand of the starter (as low as 10 volts). The only reason i point this out is for voltage sensitive equipment.
