Starting my westy restoration

Hi,

I am about to start the restoration of my 88 westy which I bought in November, so thought I would blog about it here.

It seems to have rust in all of the usual places, the underneath looks pretty solid though. Ideally this will be a rolling restoration as we would like to keep using it. Its really useful seeing other peoples projects on hear, means I know what to expect before starting a job.

Here are a few photos of how it looks now.

The rear arch will be my first job, just order the large panel from schofields along with the rear corner.

There are few crust bits around the windows, I am going to cut these bits out and repair properly.
Image

The rear tailgate needs sorting, hopefully I will be able to get hold of another one fairly that doesnt need too much doing, so I can work on it without leaving the van without a tailgate.

Again, the opposite side, rear arch needs doing, but this doesnt look as bad as the other (yet)

The panel at the back of the fridge looks rusty too.

And also the step, its had a bad repair on it at some point.

Can't wait to get started

Yeah, seen the posts about the fridge panel, I haven't seen a full replacement panel for that one either just doing one bit at a time for now and trying not to get overwhelmed
