How do you remove pop rivets?

I am going to change the catches on the elevating roof and the old ones are pop rivetted on. Am I right in assuming that you drill them out or is there a much safer way?

Thanks

Andy

Drilling rivets out

Just drill off the heads of the rivets then tap the remaining body of rivet through using a small punch. The rivets will probably be 1/8" diameter inwhich case use a 3.2mm drill (5/32" use 4.0mm drill). This way you won't oversize hole and replacement rivets will be a nice tight fit. :)
