COOLANT HOSE FOR 1.7 DIESEL

Hi
I have a Sept 1987 1.7 diesel.
On the way to Tenby for the Bank Holiday w/e, the coolant light started flashing. I eventually worked out that the coolant level was low due losing water from a split in the thermostat housing/radiator/header tank/oil cooler house. Fortunately the split was on the thermostat housing and there was enough slack to cut off the split and pull over the housing again. I have tried to find the part number in Wiki and also looked for a replacement at Brickworks, Just Kampers etc but have not been successful.
Can anyone please suggest other sources please.
If the hose is not available any longer is it possible to manufacture a metal connection to allow standard hoses and twice as many jubilee clips/clamps to be used? I am assuming that this hose either collects the heated water or distributes the cooled water?
Ta in advance
