What oil to use

Hi people just wondering what is the best oil to put in my 1987 w/c 1.9 petrol dg t25?

Just to say, I use Halfords 20w50 'classic' motor oil in my '84 DG.

ALDI - £10. For the record it meets VW specs (is on label) and even turbos too.
