Mud tyres and wheels

I've a hedgelaying job coming up which requires me to go where my BFG ATs won't take me and after my scare earlier in the year have decided that this justifies getting some better offroad tyres to supplement what I've already got.

Has anybody tried the Insa Sahara? They come in 215/15 and are about £65 each.Would these fit the Doka or do the treads stick out too far? If so what is a good size to aim for?Any other tyres suggestions?

I'm also on the lookout for some steel rims to fit them on.I can't stretch to another set of Mefros but is there a stronger Merc rim which will do the trick?Anybody got a set they need shot of?

Any advice would be gratefully received.Thanks.Al

Al,
Andysimpson was running Insa turbos (i think), the are not for the faint hearted though ideal for the deaf!
He was on 16" aswell, but performance wise they did do the business (along with a f*** off turbo)
Only issues I remember is getting to and from the venue - they are not a happy road tyre! nigh on illegal 95% off road

check out kuhmo kl 71 muds. local landy specialist rates them very highly and by all accounts do very well in the off road tests. my mate used them on his landy and said they were very good on road too.

only reason i didn`t buy them was because they didn`t do the size i was after for my alloys. i`m thinking of getting a set for my steels now though for off roading.

pics of 245 70 16 on my syncro. bit too big. so sent them back.

Yes, KL71s (a new Kumho) are being rated highly

They do quote 215 and 235 70 R15 but think its not a common stock item (195 80 R15 is though)

They are about £70 something incl VAT

Also, look for thes on Ebay and elsewhere

Marshalls, they look exactly the same as the Kumho and have same code (KL71), but about £50 each

Marshall and Khumo are the same tyres made in same factory, I use the 857 on road tyres, originally supplied as Khumo now as Marshall, 5 year warranty mid price, not as good in the wet as a Vanco though but half the price

I have a pair of T4 steel wheels I don't need. They are the ET44 I think, the ones with the square holes in. They are in fairly good condition & only want a fiver each for them.

The centres will need to be machined to 68mm to fit a Syncro.

Many thanks for the tips- I'll check them out on ebay etc.I obviously need them to be road legal but only just since I'm not planning on doing many road miles on them.

Thanks for the offer Pete.I'll check the T4 rims - I do remember trying one on mine and not being sure it would do the trick but am not sure of the offset. It may have been that I hadn't realised the centre needed opening up. Would ET44 be OK on the syncro?
