DG Pierburg oddity

Hi,
I'm just about to fit a pierburg to my DG which presently has a solex....as it was a new engine fitted with old ancillaries in Germany....the pierburg which came off another dg but history unknown has been stripped, cleaned etc. I hav found a very odd thing though. The small ID black rubber pipe between the choke pull down vacuum unit and the vacuum intake at the base of the carb had something inside it restricting air flow in either direction. I pilled it out and it looks to me a bit like a tiny little carb jet with a tiny rubber ring around it. Effectively it was blocking the tube.....i thought ;oh it must be a one way valve...' which might be the case but looking at diagrams of pierburgs there is no indicatio of any valve or blockage in the pipe.......unless someone blocked off the choke? Worst case scenario is its something from inside the carb thats been dislodged and came out of the small vacuum fitting just below the solenoindful cut off valve......help?
