Hi everybody,
I have to service my 3-way Electrolux refrigerator (RM212F). I've been searching for a local place but everything seems to be quite far away. Does anybody know where I could service it here in London or nearby?

There isn't really anything to service on an Electrolux fridge other than checking that the pilot light is free from dirt & all the electrical connections are still intact (check wires for frayed ends/chaffing).

I read few threads yesterday and people were mentioning about servicing their electrolux, so I thought that was what it was needed. I guess it's time to learn about refrigerators....

As above give it a good check and clean the back with a soft brush to remove and dust etc about all you can do really

I went through the same pain. I use a soft brush and a vacuum clearner round the pilot etc. whilst you are on it check the gas lines and the elec.
Thats pretty much all there is to it.

I think I might just take it out and giving it a good clean and try at home. If this doesn't work, then I'll have to think of a plan B.

Right. I've read the wiki article on 'Camping Interior fridge removal' that Nicola&Tony kindly suggested. The problem is that I've always been a cyclist so I am still an illiterate when it comes to cars/vans. I got stuck on step number 1
"STEP ONE Firstly disconnect gas from bottle and both batteries."
The gas bottle is not a problem but the batteries are... I don't know how disconnect them. I have a ZIG C.F.8 Panel if this info helps.
Any suggestions?

Have you got a Haynes manual and do you know where your batteries are?

Main starter battery will either be in the box at the back of driver seat base, or in the engine bay. Leisure battery might be in the box behind passenger seat base, or it could be in one of the cupboards, or under the back seat.

Haynes also do a general motor home / motor caravan manual which you might find useful, includes things like leisure batteries etc.

Remove negative terminal from each battery terminal and make sure you leave it where it won't suddenly spring up / across and make contact with the terminal again whilst you're working.

Hi Nicola&Tony,
It doesn't seem to be a Haynes Manual for the VW T25 and diesel. I went to Halfords the other day and the one they have is the 'VW Transporter (82-90) Service and Repair Manual' for petrol engines only (it says at the back, "diesel models not covered"). Also searched the internet and nothing. So I'm thinking of either getting the one mentioned above + the Haynes manual for diesel (regardless of the vehicle's make), which will cost me double or go for the Bentley's Manual (£70 ).
I know where the batteries are, so I'll be watching some videos later and hopefully get the fridge out this afternoon while the sun is shinning.

Hey folks.

I have to take my Van to a service center to have this serviced.

They have told me I must have the fridge itself disconnected before I arrive,

with the battery disconnected however, I'll not get very far

would it be a hazard to drive the van with the fridge terminals disconnected (i can always insulate with leccy tape?)

advice appreciated, cheers

I have taken the fridge out of my van to service it and it looks as though someone has had it out before me and dented rear gas combustion chamber when they put it back. Its had a respray at some point, so I suspect it was when this was done.

There is also a kink in the gas supply pipe to the unit that needs to be carefully straightened out. I have cleaned the area around the combustion head unit and will reassemble tomorrow / check the gas supply does not leak. My cautious side is telling me to have the unit replaced in case the dent to the combustion chamber gas has effected the efficiency of the unit so the gas does not burn cleanly; but would value any other thoughts members might have? I have taken pictures on my phone but am not sure how to post them on here.

The fridge would be a total write off if you have a dent in the combustion tube - I think that you mean the outer casing to the combustion tube? This is a thin sheet metal shroud on top of insulation all surrounding the combustion tube. If this is what you mean it is nothing to worry about as all it does is retain the insulation.
I think that you are worrying needlessly but a pic would confirm. Details for posting in Wiki at top of page.
