wheel offset

Hi can anyone help me. I've just bought a set of porsche replica alloys the rears are 9j with an offset of 55. would a 20mm adaptor be correct to reduce the offset or would i require something a bit bigger because of the larger width.. cheers

You'd need a 55mm spacer to clear the suspension on a 9" rim
not recommended in my opinion

55mm is rather a lot i agree, will have to offer them up and do the maths. still they were very cheep!. .cheers

55mm spacer/adaptor would give an effective ET of
0 so yes i agree not to be recommended.
I'd suggest a 20mm adaptor which gives an effective ET of 35 which clears the suspension but the sliding door may just catch the tyre depending on the tyre size.Easily sorted though by slackening off the allen bolts on the bottom sliding door hinge and giving the door a gentle pull...then re-tighten.This gives you an extra couple of mm clearance.
