You are correct the 4 to 5 speed change over is not a straight forward as you think, as well as the box mounting being different you will also find the gear linkage will also need replacing ./

different fromt mounts

the Aircooled mounts different to the water cooled.
4 speed is longer than the 5 speed water cooled ones.

i would not like to say weather the engine sits further forward either.

the 5 speed is code ABN and is def longer, the only way i can see is moving the engine toward the rear about an inch

if it was me and defo in a different place, bolt up the gearbox mount first , jack up the engine then redeill the chassis to except the engine bar in a different place!

Have you got the 5 speed front mount attatched to the box or have you swapped the 4 speed onto it? The 5 speed front mount is shorter to allow for the box being longer.
