Hi Folks, I have been having problems with my van of late. It fires up from cold but then if i stop the engine after say 10-20 mins of driving it will not fire up again for at least 15-20 mins (at best)....when its cooled down again it fires up fine. Any ideas what i could check?

Cheers x

This might be relevant, depending on your symptoms (what happens when you turn the key?), it was the starter motor that was the culprit for us:

jk do a hot starting relay kit -- i bought one a year ago, have yet to fit it , but it reduces the resistance in the wires to the coil or dizzy apparently.

is it turning over readily ?
is there a smell of unburnt fuel after cranking ?
cold start up procedure is press the accelerator once, release, start
very cold press accel twice, release start
warm do not press accelerator start, if not quite starting a small ammount of accelerator may be required but full pedal may engage the choke.
What's it like after a long run ?

Basics fuel air spark

Took it to the hospital today (Phil Davies garage in Plymouth). He says its the electronic 7 stage mechanism ignition blah blah ?(i may have quoted that wrong as typing from memory which is also shot too!)...but his words definitely mentioned something to do with the electronic ignition side of things. Will up date when i get it back from the garage.

Just to update-my problem was a trigger unit which was replaced and my van is sorted. On that note i can recommend Phil Davie garage in Plymouth for Devonian people out there...he had quite a few campers in actually!
