Yes you are right. I got a document out of wiki SHowing how to upgrade to intermttent wipers. I found the little white gismo which needs removing so as to allow the switch arm to have another position and was looking for a relay No 19 when more serious issues overtook me. I am now on the lookout for a relay 19 again. I think I sourced one at £25 but am reluctant to spend that money unless I know the wiring is in. Maybe someone knows which pins to short in the fuse box to test for it. Someone local may have one I could try.
Cheers

Smiffy it's in the wiki

Just get a VW relay 19 from a scrap yard (charged £2 each for the 3 I got) and put it in the fuse box on later models as wiring is there. Did it for 2 of my mates in seconds.

Unless your van is an early one like mine then it's a bit more involved. But I did it ok and added the instructions to the wiki using Keith and Sylvia's webpage as a guide.

If your struggling to find one I can take a trip to a VW breakers near my Grandmothers and see if they have any. Could be a few weeks though if your not pushing for it. Or try fleabay

I just got my big dirty jobs done (like re-fiting gearbox) in time to clean my hand up for my Carpal Tunnel operation. Right hand all done up like a street fighter and no driving for a fortnight. Lucky I do man typing (two fingers unlike the ladies who use all fingers and don't even look at what they are doing) So as soon as I am on the road again I will head off to our local breakers. Our breakers ain't what they used to be. Sell you stuff off the shelf and sometimes won't even let you scrounge around without an escort. My generation has had the best of it. Its all downhill from now.
