oil filter .
oil.
low / high oil pressure switch.
renew the old wiring to the swithchs.
new oil relife spring / piston.
oil pressure checked and o.k.

took out all front speedo clocks etc cleaned out.
checked the pcb back off speedo etc,
checked the muti plug, cleaned and put back o.k.
flushed the engine out ,clean as a whistle. done another oil/filter change.

drive around the town no probs ,get out on open roads the buzzer of dome comes on ,get rid off with clucth down rev up,change gear etc.

Hi Neil,

is it contagious? Coz that's exactly what mine is doing.....

occassionally at 2000 revs the light will flash and buzzer sound. goes immediatley I go past 2000 revs whether I dump the clutch or just accelerate. More often htna not when I am slowing down, but not nessarily so. Puttin 20/50 stuff in. That seems to help a bit

I know the engine ha just gone past the 150,000 only tclock....so am putting it down to worn engine syndrome......

will watch thread with interest.

have you read this?
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Al ... and_causes

seems like the High Rpm/low pressure sensor is the one to blame as coming in on at high rpm on open roads, located near water pump.

1.9 engine? double checked correct part?

I guess check the continuity from high/low sensor to dash multiplug and make sure its not earthing, Could be the dash circuits are not happy esp the dynamic oil pressure circuitry in the speedo housing if you are certain that the oil pressure is OK. Bentley has a procedure for checking it.

In two years this has only happen to me once and it was last week - possibly because I was thrashing it going uphill and overtaking - bad chunk bad, just needed a bit more oil and I mean a bit it was just one the last dot have done 400 miles since with no problems.

Must be something in the air

Have you checked the oil pressure when its real hot?

Symptoms may well be correct.. hot oil is a lot thinner... and only rears its ugly head when the engine has got good and hot..

A new oil pump may cure it.. also you can reface the oil pump body to restore oil pressure.. apart from that, if the engine is tired, new shells may help.. but you dont want to be getting into that....

Use 20w50 (or even something higher if you can find it, 60 is available apparently)

Fitting an oil cooler may also reduce the problwm, but it isnt a cure...

Try earthing the wire that goes to the high rev sensor (Near waterpump) if that cures the problem you have the wrong or faulty sensor. If not I would say it is the multi plug, I have had both and know that just moving the plug a nats can have things working or not working if you see what I meen!

The high rev sensor is earthed when Ok and is not earthed when low pressure, the low rev sensor is the opposite earthed when low pressure.

I know this is a problem common to our vans, but the buzzer of doom could be coming on for the reason it is intended - ie your oil pressure is low.

Mine came on and 6000 miles later the engine was foo barred.

I hope yours isnt though Neil - specially after all the hard work you just put into that van....

Oil Level... my 2penneth

I had exactly the same issue with my new JX engined van... after a hammering along A roads, or motorway, coming off and slower more sedate driving ~ on she popped...

turned out to be me overfilling the oil (I thought the two cinks in the dipstick were high and low!! )

took the 2 litres too much out and no probs since!

it's because the JX TD 1.6 is canked over by 54 degrees, and the oil froths when the engine is run hard for a period.. thus holding small air particles, thus lowering tested pressure.. so the system was doing it's job.

few words of caution
if it is low oil pressure when hot (prob is) then it could be down to the big ends starting to go oval (as well as other wear in the system) and when they do they end up "picking up" on the crank and throwing the rod out of the case... then ther isnt much left of the engine... Think the tickled one had a ron go and the pictures were nasty....
