I've posted here as the camper section has little activity over the last five years.

What's the general consensus for rock wool packed against intervals of bodywork? Some say it hold moisture and rots internally. Others' say it is fine.

I bought this camper two years ago. All the cavities for doors and hatch are filled this way. There are no signs of internal or external rust on any four opening panels.

I thought about fixing radiator insulation to panels using heavy duty carpet glue, then repack with rock wool.

I done my van 4 years ago. Close cell foil foam then insulation from b and a (made from plastic). The noise reduction and insulation is stunning

I can't be certain this is the original insulation. There's a bit of foil insulation either side which leads to believe it is a recent replacement.
That's partly my concern. But it all feels bone dry.

Mine had the same itchy stuff there.

It will be original.

Rockwool holds water stu, when I stripped the LT it had that in it and it was like a waterlogged sponge,
I'd get the recycled plastic loft insulation its very good for heat holding doesnt hold water.

Okay and thanks. But online there seems to be differing views. Some say don't use. Some say it is okay.

I suppose as long as it stays dry its fine, im glad i swapped to the plastic stuff as it doesn't itch   and it seems to hold heat better.

Could I please ask what the recycled plastic product is called and where you can get it from?
do you insulate inside the doors too? I assume so? I have a 1980 Devon moonraker and not sure if it’s insulated

Google recycled plastic insulation. Many places sell it.

Insulate everywhere that is safe to do so. Under cab mats, doors, rear hatch, side panels. If there's an internal card you can release, do so and check behind.
It does make a difference.

Got my plastic recycled roll from B and Q IIRC. Diall its called.

The foil backed closed foam i got online.

The foil backed sticks on obviously as its adhesive. Then contact spray and then the plastic recycled stuff.

You wont get the insulation in the front doors because of the window. But the closed cell foam you will - the doors close with a clunk.

I insulated every panel of van. It was hard work as its a westy. So had to remove everything.

It is well worth it.
