Tachometer Steper Motor

Anyone know if you can still get hold of the Stepper Motors for a T3 Tachometer? Or a more modern one that functions the same way?
I've seen loads on ebay for T4's and Mk3 Golfs, but they look very different and I imagine they work in a different way.
Cheers.

There has been no compatible replacement available for about 15 years (unless something has changed quite recently).
I repair instrumentation for heavy equipment, there's a particular unit that fits a crane worth hundreds of thousands of pounds that uses the same motor. If we ever need one, we buy a 1980s VW cluster and harvest the part...

Thanks TT, do you know if any moving coil meters would be compatible with a standard T3 Tach PCB?
