Exhaust copper lock nuts

Evening All,
Fitting a new exhaust tomorrow , hopefully and I know I’m overthinking this , however here we go .
I’ve bought from VW new copper lock nuts and studs to secure manifold flanges .
My question is will I be ok using stainless washers under the copper lock nuts ?
Been dead lucky in so far as no snapped studs ! Recut threads on all studs and look ok .
Rest of exhaust bit of a b’stard to saw off :D
Van is 1984 DG W/C 1,9 . Early system .
Thanks,
Chris

Stainless washers, and copper locking nuts will be fine,
I would expect the studs to be steel, not copper as copper would be too soft.

The nightmare comes in if you use stainless nuts.

So you will be fine.

I favour old school brass nuts with spring washers on high tensile steel exhaust studs. They never seize.
