I have developed an issue with my sliding door and can't figure out the cause.

I can shut and lock it, handle doesn't move and door won't budge when pulled, then I'm driving down the road and hear 'tink' and the door comes open.

Doesn't matter how many times I shut it after a while it happens again.

Have taken to tying it shut on the inside, still opens but can't move anywhere.

Any advice on likely cause welcome.

Rear lock moves freely and seems to be in good condition.

Take a look at the pin on the rear post, if they come loose it causes the problem you have , also if it’s bit properly adjusted

Also look at the catch at the rear, sometimes the secondary catch doesn't swing over the pin due to wear. Bend back the cover and you can see if the catch is fully over or not after shutting it.

I had thought that, but damn if I can find another one, searched JK, Brickwerks and all combinations of 't25/t3 sliding door parts and everyone seems to have everything apart from this bit LOL.

It can be disassembled and repaired. I can't remember exactly what I did when mine failed but the catch needs building up a little with weld and reprofiled, I am sure that there was a detailed post on here some time ago with the details in.
