Starting problem finally solved

After several weeks of trying to remedy my starting from cold problem, my auto electricians have finally resolved the problem. After trying every other option, they eventually decided to replace the cabling from the starter battery to the starter motor with seriously heavy duty cable. I am now mobile again. Thank goodness!

Thanks Gordon. Technologically it was about as basic as you can get. What was a pain was it struggled to start (called a 'lazy starter motor' by people that know) for the first time ever, just before xmas. Once it was warmed up the van started without a problem. Cables were taken apart and connections cleaned up and cables were replaced. The problem would not go away. The only answer was seriously heavy grade cable which cost the auto electric company £120. I guess others will soon be suffering the same problem on these old buses.

I bought a reel at a local motor factors (they call it battery cable) for just shy of £40. Covered everything from back to front including new fat cable to dash plus plenty left over for leisure battery etc.

Cheers for the reply.
Silly question, just red cable? And Polevault do a 170 and 240 amp, belt and braces with the 240 or is 170 enough?

I did mention it in the WIKI article above, but I used 16mm 110amp 'fine strand' cable for much of it.
