Hi, the vacuum advance on my dizzy has stopped working (think the diaphragm has gone), what is the best replacement, replace with same or go for a modern dizzy/coil combo ie something like the powerspark products. any advice welcome, cheers

I have assumed it's DG with my link above, DF has a different vac unit

stick your engine code in your sig with year.

I'm currently running with one of these from Powerspark. I bought it at a show as a spare, because the price was good. The seller told me that the advance curve is not exactly the same as the original unit, but it's only a few degrees different. I reasoned that a few degrees difference, especially at higher revs, might be ok. I fitted it to a refurbished distributor and my engine has run very well in the year or so that it's been on - no noticeable difference from the original.

The guy at Brickwerks has been on to Bosch and they have no plans to make any more at the moment !! So hang on to any spares is the moral of this story :-)

Put a wanted add on this site.
There are always a few Subaru or Diesel conversions ongoing, and there must be a few sat collecting dust at the moment?

Sorry didn't follow the link, assumed you have a whole dizzy not just the vac unit.

DG uses a vac maximum advance of 12-16 deg starting at 113-165 mmhg (early engine where slightly different). Typically the universal replacements meant for air cooled engines only have a maximum advance 8-12 deg starting at a lower 70-120 mmhg.
